What if you could add interactivity to your print marketing at no extra cost? Does this sound too good to be true? Thankfully, with the help of QR codes, this dream can become a reality.

So, what is a QR code?

Basically, a QR code is a 2-dimensional code (sort of like the bar codes you see at the grocery store, but different) that can be scanned with a smart phone camera. Once scanned, the code will direct the user towards a special landing page and/or app. On this landing page and/or app the sky is the limit when it comes to your creativity! However, we recommend something personalized, interactive and/or out of the box to get your customers talking and to get them excited about your brand.

Below are a few examples of some cool applications we thought QR codes could be used for. Use them as inspiration for your next great QR-code marketing campaign!

If you are trying to enhance your social media presence, you can include a QR code that leads your customers to your social media pages. This QR code can be placed anywhere, but it will probably be the most effective on your direct mail postcards and/or take-out menus (if you’re a restaurant). You will have to create the QR code that leads to your Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. If you use Snapchat, the app provides you with a “snap code”, which is basically just a Snapchat branded QR code. Like a regular QR code, your snap code can be applied almost anywhere.

If you’re trying to personalize your marketing, you can include a QR code that leads customers to a personalized landing page (PURL). On this PURL, you can greet your customers by their first name and gift them with a coupon that is also personalized to their identities. If you include this personalized QR code on a direct mail piece, you can even direct customers to their Maps app in their phone, allowing them to see the quickest way to get to the closest location of your store or restaurant.

If you’re trying to be seen as innovative and technologically savvy, you can include a QR code that creates a sense of augmented reality (AR). If you’re a retail store, your QR code can lead customers to a website showing them a video of a fashion model walking down the runway in the outfit of their choice. You can even lead them to an app that allows them to virtually try on clothes and accessories. If you’re a restaurant, your QR code can lead customers to a live video feed of your restaurant, so they can properly gage the atmospheric vibe and see how crowded the restaurant is at any given time.

The possibilities for creativity and interactivity with QR codes are endless. And the best part is you can include them in your next marketing campaign at virtually no extra production cost!
